Welcome Back to the ITAM Forum

Since 2020, the ITAM Forum has been home to practitioners who govern technology assets from purchase to disposition. Your job has grown since then. “Assets” now include cloud and AI services, SaaS entitlements, complex enterprise contracts, and data, and the business depends on you more than ever to manage their cost and value.

As a Linux Foundation project, we’re a neutral, practitioner-led body that can move quickly and transparently in a way that’s inclusive of the global practitioner community, but free of sales pitches. Now we also work alongside sister projects like the FinOps Foundation, the FOCUS Project, and the Tokenomics Foundation, so the communities managing technology value can collaborate instead of working in silos.

What’s been going on?

Over the busy past couple of months, the ITAM Forum has established our Governing Board and Technical Advisory Council (TAC)  and started a series of global Community Calls that will expand on country chapter calls in the past. We’re also restarting Tools & Services Showcases, and we are hosting interactive global Virtual Summits about 6 times a year to present on topics that are of interest to everyone. All of our events, including industry events where ITAM Forum members are speaking can be found on our Events Page.

What’s happening now?

The ITAM Forum TAC will begin work next week on an integrated ITAM Framework, built to intersect with the FinOps Framework, followed by training and certification. ITAM Forum will also be participating in the November annual meeting of the ISO WG 21 which oversees the ISO 19770-1 ITAM Management System. ITAM Forum has played a key role in helping to develop content in that family, as well as in certifying ITAM practices, and we’re excited to work out how we can support ITAM and broader Technology Value standards going forward.

Most exciting for me is the planned ITAM track at Tokenomicon + FinOps X on Precon Day in San Diego next June. AJ Witt will be sharing his take on the recent Tokenomicon+FinOps X in Amsterdam today as well. But we will have an entire content track in San Diego. We’d love for you to come, speak, and join the community there. Watch for a call for papers very soon.

Get Involved!

  • Join a Community Call. Attend your region’s call, or any call with a topic you care about, and bring your questions and ideas. You don’t have to be in a region to join that call!
  • Share your expertise. The Tokenomicon call for proposals opens soon. Submit a talk or chalk-talk idea at tokenomicon.com.
  • Join a Working Group. Let us know at a Community Call if you’d like to help build best practices on AI’s impact on ITAM, data quality, SaaS licensing, or governance at scale.

This new chapter is built around you: your career, your knowledge, and your peers. So let us know what you’d like to see more of. Reach out anytime at hello@itamf.org or join us at an event soon!
